Can we harness our Collective Intelligence to address complex problems?

About

ABOUT

IMG_8259 (1).JPG

I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins University and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

My research revolves around how to harness the collective intelligence of human crowds to address complex issues around social and environmental sustainability like climate change, overfishing, urbanization, and most recently COVID-19. While no individual has the right answer to these so called wicked problems, I am trying to explore ways to crowdsource laypeople's informal knowledge  and day-to-day intelligence to get to the right answer, especially where knowledge developed by professional science lacks. To address this, I draw on social, behavioral, and cognitive theories, develop computational models, and use data science techniques.

PUBLICATIONS

I've published in interdisciplinary journals such as PNAS, Nature Sustainability,

Frontiers in Ecology & the Environment, etc.
